Alisha: Top 25 Urdu Questions You Need to Know - Lesson 3: "Where do you live?" in Urdu. In each lesson of this 25 part series, you'll master a common question for Urdu learners, and then learn how to answer like a native speaker. You'll learn how these key phrases work by breaking them down into each component. Then, through repetition and new vocabulary, you'll expand your understanding of the question, its answers, and any variations.
In this lesson, you'll learn how to respond to the common question "Where do you live?" In Urdu this is...
Hamza: آپ کہاں رہتے ہیں؟
Alisha: The first word of the question is...
Hamza: آپ
Alisha: meaning "you" in English.
Hamza: (slowly) آپ
Alisha: Listen again and repeat.
Hamza: آپ
{Pause}
Alisha: This pattern of first introducing a word at natural speed, providing the translation, breaking it down, and then giving it again at natural speed will be repeated throughout the series. Try to speak aloud as often as possible. The next word in the question is-

Hamza: (slowly) کہاں
Alisha: Now repeat.
Hamza: کہاں
{Pause}
Alisha: Listen to the first two words of the question and repeat.

Alisha: Now you want to ask that person where they live. Ask them the question.
(5 seconds)
Hamza: آپ کہاں رہتے ہیں؟
{pause}
Alisha: Now it's time to answer the question with actual information about yourself.
Hamza: آپ کہاں رہتے ہیں؟
{pause}
Alisha: Could you answer any of these questions on your own? Keep practicing until you’ve mastered the phrase! This is the end of Lesson 3.
