INTRODUCTION
In this lesson we’ll learn some useful survival phrases to help you enjoy shopping around Pakistani stores.

You should remember that Suniye, or "Excuse me," is always the first thing to say when asking for information. After saying Suniye, which means “Excuse me”, you should say Iss ki qimat kitni hai?, which means "How much does this cost?"

First we have Iss ki, which means "this".

Next, we have qimat, meaning “cost”

Altogether, we have Iss ki qimat kitni hai? meaning “How much does this cost?”

This is the perfect question when you don't know the name of the object you're trying to buy. You can just point at it and say, Iss ki qimat kitni hai?, which means "How much does this cost?"
However, if you know the name of the object you want to buy, you can be very specific. For example, if you want to buy a particular t-shirt, it’s better to ask "How much is this t-shirt?"
In Urdu, that is Iss t-shirt ki qimat kitni hai?

First, we have Iss, literally meaning “this”

What if you want to ask about shoes, and say “How much are these shoes?” In Urdu, that is Yeh jotay kitnay ke hain?

Yeh jotay kitnay ke hain?
Yeh in English means “these”.
Next in this sentence we have the noun jotay, which means “shoes.”
Then we have kitnay ke meaning “how much” and lastly we have hain meaning “are”.
